Para Athletes
In para sport, performance under pressure cannot be separated from the body. Pain, fatigue, spasticity, altered sensitivity, positioning or limited recovery may change the task itself. The useful question is what actually changed, what may be driving it and what response is realistic in the athlete’s current state.
The body can change the performance problem
Pain, fatigue, tone, sensitivity, balance or movement availability can genuinely alter what the athlete is able to do in that moment.
Not every body signal means deterioration
Pressure can also change how a familiar sensation is interpreted. The task is to distinguish a real physical change from increased threat monitoring.
Adaptation is part of performance
The goal is not to force the athlete back to an ideal state. It is to find a usable response for the state that is actually present.
